Johnny Arthur

Born John Lennox Arthur Williams May 20, 1883 in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, Johnny Arthur was already a twenty-five year veteran
on the stage before beginning his film career in the 1920s. Although he was able to survive the transition to sound that destroyed
so many other silent film careers, his comedic style was never strong enough to make him a leading player.

Arthur had parts in 86 films (silent & sound) in his career, but died at age 68 of heart disease on December 31, 1951
at the Motion Picture Country Home and is sadly buried at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in an unmarked grave.

(The Butter and Egg Man originally opened September 23, 1925 and closed April 1926 at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway.)
